Spinal Stenosis

Spinal Stenosis is a condition that affects the function of nerves and blood flow to and from the spine. This condition may affect the cervical spine (neck) and the lumbar spine (lower back), and it can cause a list of symptoms including pain, tingling, and numbness in the extremities, dizziness, loss of balance, and even severe headaches. When Spinal Stenosis occurs, the space for nerves in the spine is constricted and applies pressure to the nerves, which creates the pain. Under normal circumstances, the nerve roots exiting the spine have plenty of room in the spinal canal, but with spinal stenosis, degenerative changes may compress this area and apply pressure to the nerves. As a result, bone spurs, herniated or slipped discs, and osteoarthritis may develop in both the cervical and lumbar spine.
