Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is one of the most common conditions that present to our office. Lots of chiropractors do not focus directly on shoulder pain and structures for treatment; we are not one of them.

The following conditions can be treaded very effectively utilizing our methods:

  • Shoulder Bursitis
  • Rotator Cuff tears
  • Impingement
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Overuse Injuries
  • Tendonitis/Tendonosis
  • Separated Shoulder
  • Dislocated Shoulder
  • and more

It's very common for people to consider the invidiual muscles of the shoulder, namely the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff is comprised of the following muscles:

  • Suprasinatus
  • Teres Minor
  • Infraspinatus
  • Subscapularis

However proper, pain free movement of the shoulder occurs only when the other aspects of the body are working well. Here are some of the more important functions of the body that are needed:

  • Upper torso flexibility - Possibly one of the more common things I see with shoulder pain is excessive stiffness of the upper torso from poor posture and too much sitting.
  • Proper neck function - If the neck doesn't move well, there's no chance that the shoulder will. There are many muscle that connect between the neck and the shoulder girdle. If you think that might be your problem, click here.
  • Shoulder girdle stabilty and control - When one has inadequate control of the shoulder blades (think when they wing out) that signifies inadequate control of the shoulder girdle. If that's the case, you've got a poor foundation for the rest of your shoulder movement. The conditions would be right to create a shoulder problem.
