During an auto accident, injuries sustained do not always show immediate symptoms. Due to the adrenaline that occurs during the accident, you might not notice the pain or discomfort for a day or two, and sometimes even longer. Never assume that the pain will fade without treatment. Whiplash refers to a specific type of neck injury that occurs when your head moves suddenly forward and backward. It causes a strain or a sprain in the ligaments and muscles of your neck, which results in pain and discomfort. Though the initial pain and discomfort will go away over time, it is important to seek care as soon as possible to make sure there are no damages to the nerves and discs of the neck as these can lead to lifelong problems that may result in the need of surgery if not treated early and properly.
