Can a Chiropractor Help Manage Pain?

Our team has trained and experienced practitioners who believe that drug-free, non-invasive, and natural therapies are the best pain management solutions. These solutions, including Atlas Orthogonal adjustments performed by our Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor, are patient centered to ensure the healing of the whole body. Many of our patients have experienced decreased pain or elimination of pain.

Good examples related to reduction of chronic pain after receiving Atlas Orthogonal adjustments include some of our patients who have reported effective management of the pain and neurological symptoms associated with fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis (MS).

How Is Chronic Pain Naturally Managed Through Chiropractic Adjustments?

A comprehensive pain management strategy incorporates regular adjustments during treatment. Our staff at Back To Health Family Chiropractic begin your care with a thorough history of your symptoms and factors that may have contributed to the pain that you are experiencing. A comprehensive physical evaluation and thorough diagnostic testing are performed in order to pinpoint the cause of pain. This diagnosis provides our chiropractor with information needed to select the appropriate chiropractic adjustment. The correct chiropractic adjustment will help realign the spine towards its original, neutral position. Proper alignment helps to balance the musculoskeletal system as well as reducing tension from the nervous system, thereby reducing and alleviating pain.

Traumatic injuries to the cervical spine can result in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) buildup in the skull. Pre and post MRI studies have shown that CSF buildup can be managed or reduced through Atlas Orthogonal adjustments. Reducing the pressure within the spinal column enables our chiropractor to manage the associated pain and physiological symptoms.

What Is an Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment?

The Atlas is the top bone in your neck and is also known as C1. Orthogonal is a Greek word that means 90 degrees. An Atlas Orthogonal Precision Chiropractic adjustment is a very gentle and specific approach to restoring proper alignment between the Atlas, the base of the skull (known as the Occiput) and the Axis which is the second bone in the cervical spine or C2. The adjustment is given with the use of a percussive force instrument and it is so light that the patient does not feel the actual adjustment. Often the results are quite dramatic. After the first Atlas Orthogonal adjustment, three more upper cervical x-ray views are taken to see and share with the patient immediate changes from the adjustment. It is important that the first vertebra in the spine is properly aligned so as to re-set the balance centers in the brain. When the balance centers in the brain are in balance, they naturally shift the rest of the spine back towards a neutral, properly aligned position.
