What Is Vertigo?

It's not unusual to feel dizzy from time to time, but vertigo is a condition that causes chronic and severe dizziness. People with vertigo often feel like they're spinning or being whirled around, even when they are standing still. Vertigo is a common symptom of inner ear problems, but can also be caused by other factors such as migraines, whiplash injuries, head injury, and certain medications. Initial care involves seeking the cause of vertigo symptoms. A review of medications and recent injuries will be explored along with possible MRI or CT testing in order to rule out serious, life-threatening conditions such as a stroke or brain bleed. Dr. Michlin at Back To Health Family Chiropractic in Fort Worth, Texas has special training to work at the Craniocervical Junction and will also consider impingement of your brainstem due to genetic causes or injury.

What Are the Symptoms of Vertigo?

While dizziness is the main symptom of vertigo, it is often accompanied by other symptoms as well. These symptoms can range from mild to severe and may include:

  • Problems with eye focusing
  • Loss of balance
  • Nausea
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Unexplained sweating

These symptoms are typically accompanied by a spinning sensation. These symptoms could prevent you from driving or performing other everyday activities. If you have a sudden onset of symptoms, go to the Emergency Room in to rule out a life-threatening condition. If the doctors at the ER send you home with vague results, seek treatment right away from Dr. Michlin so he can help to resolve your situation and provide relief.

Treating Vertigo with Chiropractic Care

Vertigo symptoms may be related to the inner ear or neck. Dr. Michlin will be able to diagnose and treat problems that may be triggering your symptoms. Specific chiropractic adjustments correct misaligned vertebrae, reduce nerve irritation, and improve communication between your brain and your body.

At Back To Health Family Chiropractic, we utilize the Atlas Orthogonal Specific Chiropractic Adjusting Instrument.
