FAQ

What is a Chiropractor?

Chiropractic is a natural approach to health. A chiropractor is a type of doctor that focuses on the spine and nervous system, specialized in holistic and non-surgical treatments to many conditions ranging from headaches and migraines, digestive issues, pregnancy, most spinal problems including myofascial pain to neuropathies, disc herniations and osteoarthritis even helping childhood conditions such as growing pains, bed wetting and even cholic in infants.

What does a Chiropractor Do?

Chiropractors focus on the interconnected relationship between the nervous system and the spine. When the spine is misaligned, which is very common, it can affect the nervous system. In fact, by getting regular chiropractic treatments, the structure of the spine can be restored/realign, reducing pressure on specific nerves and improving the health of the individual. This will reduce pain and improve function of the spine and nervous system. Its also important to work with patients to improve core strength exercises and ergonomics.

Scientific proof that many diseases and health problems originate from a combination of physical, chemical, and mental/emotional traumas accumulated over a entire LIFETIME. Many of the body traumas come from poor food choices, dietary/nutritional deficiencies, food additives, stress, lack of exercise, smoking, chemical toxins, pesticides, toxic skin care products, physical injuries, prescription drugs, bacteria, parasites, viruses, negative thinking, poor posture, contact sports such as hockey, soccer and rugby…to name a few.

Many other problems can originate from neurological stress/interference acquired throughout the body. In order to get well, one must focus on restoring health to the entire body, not just placating the symptoms.

What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

These procedures date back to Ancient Greek times. Chiropractors look to the spine to find the cause of the physical problem which is causing interference or ill health. One of the most common visits to the chiropractor for the average person is to get a chiropractic adjustment. In fact, claims for an adjustment range from short term pain relief to long term wellness. Amazingly, medical reports, states that the benefits of spinal adjustment far outweigh any risks.

The intent of a spinal adjustment is to realign the spine which decreases pressure on the nerves and relieves the MAJOR physical problem. An adjustment visit will typically begin with the Dr of Chiropractic, (DC) palpating the spine. The actual procedure involves the DC gently stretching the spinal joint where it needs aligned. Patients may hear a popping sound as small pockets of air in the tissue, and endorphins around the joint are released. The actual procedure doesn’t hurt, but discomfort may be felt after the visit, due to changes occurring in the surrounding soft tissues. Most people get relief from having spinal adjustments as joint motion is improved and relieved off the nervous system.
