Pain impacting your game?

While most athletes are tough by nature, pain during sports can impact performance and sideline an athlete.  These injuries are particularly devastating when they hold athletes out of competition or valuable training sessions.  When dealing with sports related injuries and pain, many doctors simply advise rest or time away from the sport.  At Ward Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, we take a different approach.

While rest may be the only option in some circumstances, often athletes can return to play with training modifications and specifically tailored rehabilitation exercises. Having worked with Division 1 athletes at Georgetown and the University of Missouri, Dr. Ward, your Fairfax chiropractor, understands the high stakes athletic environment and the need to return to action as soon as possible.

Chiropractor Dr. Kevin Ward Specializes in Sports Injury Rehabilitation

While many providers focus only on the painful area, we focus on the adjacent joints and compensation patterns. For example, for an athlete with a knee injury, we treat not only the knee, but also the hip, low back ankle and foot. Similarly, for an athlete with a rotator cuff condition we treat not only the shoulder, but also the scapula, cervical spine, thoracic spine and elbow. This holistic approach yields faster results with fewer reinjuries.

"When an old knee injury from cheerleading in my younger days kept causing me pain, I wasn't sure what to do. I didn't want to take pain medication. Dr. Ward offered a drug-free, non-invasive approach to helping me overcome this sports injury and eliminate my chronic pain."

Our multifaceted approach for the treatment of sports related pain includes specific rehabilitation protocol, soft tissue release, chiropractic adjustment, ultrasound and electric stimulation. Our sport and spine rehabilitation starts with restoring proper muscle activation patterns and progresses to sports specific training. Are you ready to get back to your sport? We can help.
