Our foods are not what they seem, so donʼt be fooled! There are more GMOʼs (genetically modified food) in the grocery stores than we are aware of due to the “hidden” labeling. China and Russia have produced very disturbing scientific studies on the dangers of consuming GMOʼs. Ironically, these countries are more honest in food labeling than the United States.
Letʼs go over how to crack the PLU codes to know what youʼre buying. For example: a 5-digit PLU code preceded with “8” equals GMO; preceded with “9” equals ORGANIC. A 4-digit PLU code equals conventional, insecticide/herbicide-laced food.
Below are the PLU Codes for bananas:
- 84011 GMO (genetically modified)
- 94011 Organic
- 4011 Conventional, insecticide/herbicide-laced food
