What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is an evidence based science, philosophy and art.  Chiropractors are trained to help restore function of the joints, predominantly by realigning the spine, and by doing so, this affects the way the nervous system works.  It removes stresses and interference.  Chiropractic care improves the connection between the brain and the rest of the body, and uses the body's own healing ability (usually seen by the body's ability to heal cuts and broken bones without intervention).  The healing process takes time and differs from person to person.  Chiropractors facilitate the healing process naturally, by hand, known as an adjustment.  Chiropractic helps people get well without medication or surgery.

Where are we?

Will it hurt?

Will it hurt?

Chiropractic care is safe and gentle, we see all ages from newborns through to the elderly.  It is common for many people after their first adjustment to say things like 'that feels easier already!' or 'that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be'.  However, we understand that some people may feel anxious and nervous before their first visit, but we promise to make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed before your adjustment.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

Chiropractors are primary healthcare professionals therefore you do not need a referral from your GP.  Chiropractors hold a Masters degree and training is comparable to medical doctors, with an emphasis on the spine and nervous system.  If we feel we cannot help you and that we are not the right fit for you, we will refer you to the appropriate healthcare practitioner.

Can I see a Chiropractor if I am pregnant?

We have looked after many women throughout all stages of their pregnancy.  Research shows that Chiropractic helps improve comfort by balancing the pelvis and shortens labour times.  At Summit we have a specialised Belloost pregnancy cushion to help aid the comfort for pregnant women.

Do you check children?

Yes, we look after all ages at Summit.  The youngest baby we have had in the clinic was just a few days old.  The Chiropractor Dr. James adjusted his own son and daughter just an hour after birth.  There are many reasons babies and children get checked by a Chiropractor.  Call us on 01923 236162 to see if your child is suitable for a consultation.

What is the process?

We have an easy 2 step process for our new clients.  Click here to find out more.

How long will it take?

hemel team

This is dependant from person to person.  Our 2 step process includes a Report of Findings where this will be discussed.  All care is broken down into 3 phases: Healing, Maintenance and Wellness.  The healing phase is the most intensive, involving regular visits which typically ranges from one to three months of care.  Think of this phase like trying to lose weight, you can't just eat well on a Monday, but once you've achieved your goals, there is no need to be as strict.  This is where maintenance and wellness come in.  Most of our clients continue Chiropractic for prevention.  In fact, in 2020, more than 90% of our clients chose to continue with maintenance and wellness care.  It is your choice how far you would like to take your care.

What are the payment options?
