  • Dr.
    Timothy Gilbert
    Associate Chiropractor

Born and raised in Woodridge, Illinois, Dr. Gilbert attended grade school and junior high at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Westmont and then graduated from Downers Grove North High School. He went on to study at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he graduated, with honors, with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Minor in Chemistry. Dr. Gilbert then completed his doctoral degree as a Chiropractic Physician at National University of Health Sciences.

At National University of Health Sciences, Dr. Gilbert focused his time studying anatomy, physiology, rehabilitation, and nutrition. He earned certifications in Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy (McKenzie Therapy), Rocktape (Fascial Movement Taping), and Acupuncture. In the NUHS clinic, he was able to treat multiple patients for low back and neck pain and also various conditions impacting shoulders, elbows, knees, feet, and more.

Dr. Gilbert bases his treatment on understanding the true origin of the patient’s problem, rather than merely treating the symptoms. He believes in the use of soft tissue techniques, physical therapy, acupuncture, and gentle manipulation when needed. These techniques, in combination with patients taking an active role in their care by focusing on exercise and nutrition, are the keys to the overall success of treatment. At the end of the day, Dr. Gilbert wants his patients performing at their best, whether that is on the field, in the office, or in day-to-day life. His goal is to not only relieve pain for his patients, but also to help them avoid the potential for re-injury and to help educate them on living a better quality life. He is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and wants to help his patients do the same.

As part of that healthy lifestyle, Dr. Gilbert has been involved in athletics his entire life. He started out playing various sports as a child but fell in love with the game of hockey. He learned to skate at the age of seven and played youth AA hockey for the Downers Grove Huskies until he was in junior high. Dr. Gilbert then continued his career playing AAA for Team Illinois. After high school, Dr. Gilbert played Junior A hockey for the Waterloo Blackhawks of the United States Hockey League where he captured a regular season championship. Following his career playing Juniors, Dr. Gilbert went on to play for the University of Illinois where he won the ACHA National Championship.

Currently, Dr. Gilbert resides in Chicago with his wife Amy. He enjoys golfing, fishing, playing men’s league hockey, and spending quality time with family and friends.
