Soy is a mild phytoestrogen. Because of this many people think that it may either promote or inhibit estrogen sensitive cancers. A recent review article in Medicine found that soy intake was inversely associated with a lower risk of endometrial cancer. This means that the more soy consumed, the lower the risk for endometrial cancer. This association was especially significant for unfermented soy food, in postmenopausal women, and in both Asian and non-Asian populations.
