ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic is the second largest of the three primary health care professions in the United States. Chiropractors complete at least three years of college coursework and then four additional years in chiropractic college. In California they are licensed to practice by the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
Chiropractors don't use drugs or perform surgery. They manipulate and adjust the musculoskeletal anatomy, and prescribe nutritional and exercise therapy. Chiropractors are the original "wellness" doctors.
Chiropractic promotes and protects a normally functioning nervous system (espcially the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). Many disease processes begin with the the body’s inability to adapt to its environment. Chiropractic addresses these disorders by identifying and resolving underlying problems that prevent normal body function.
“Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word chiropraktikos, meaning “effective treatment by hand.”
