HbA1c and Walking

Diabetics not only have elevated fasting glucose levels, but also have elevated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, a measurement of long-term blood glucose levels. A Belgian study published in 2013 had patients with type 2 diabetes wear pedometers. They found that HbA1c levels improved when a person consistently walked more than 4,000 steps per day. No other health changes were noted. However, this is a good start, as it can signify other improvements down the line.
