The Psychotherapy Center for Intentional Living: therapy room

Catherine Duca, LCSW and Dawn Fried, LCSW

Catherine A. Duca, LCSW has maintained a practice in psychotherapy since 1985, specializing in short-term dynamic psychotherapy.

She taught the theory and technique of Accelerated Empathic Therapy and supervised other therapists in the practice of this technique at Rutgers School of Social Work. Video recordings of her work have been presented at conferences and used as teaching tools in the advancement of accelerated psychotherapy.

She sees her relationship with clients as a collaborative one, in which the give and take and mutual respect between client and therapist are the foundation of deep, healing work.

Clients often remark that it is her humor and genuineness which help to create an atmosphere of healing and acceptance, essential for meaningful and lasting change.

Education:

Having earned an MSW from Rutgers School of Social Work, she went on to train at the Institute for Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy in NJ and NY where she later joined the faculty.

Outside of the Ofiice:

Catherine is currently writing a book entitled, "Preshrink: 10 Things You Should Know Before Calling a Therapist" due for release next Spring.

Dawn Fried, LCSW has a background and expertise in facilitating groups and designing workshops on topics such as forgiveness and bereavement. Focusing her work in the areas of grief/loss, forgiveness, and energy healing, she is interested in the relationship of spirituality and psychotherapy in the role of healing.

It is this psycho-spiritual perspective which underlies and enriches her work. As a therapist, she is very active and engaged in the therapeutic relationship, recognizing the limitless potential and intrinsic worth of each one of her clients.

She is often described by those she encounters as a warm and compassionate person who makes it easy to establish a trusting and comfortable rapport. She dedicates herself to being an equal partner to her clients on their personal and unique journey toward wholeness and healing.

Education:

Dawn completed her Masters in Social Work at Rutgers University and has maintained a private practice for over 20 years.

Certification:

Dawn trained and was certified at the Institute for Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, where she conducted clinical supervision and taught the principles of this specialized technique. She presented video recordings of her work at professional conferences in NYC and NJ.

Outside of the Ofiice:
