Chronic Fatigue

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a flu-like condition that can drain your energy and, sometimes, last for years. People previously healthy and full of energy may experience a variety of signs and symptoms.

People with chronic fatigue syndrome exhibit signs and symptoms similar to those of most common viral infections. Unlike flu (influenza) symptoms, which usually subside in a few days or weeks, the signs and symptoms of CFS can last much longer. They may come and go frequently with no identifiable pattern.

There is NO test for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The diagnosis is simply one of exclusion and your history: unexplained fatigue for at least 6 months along with cognitive dysfunction (for example-unable to think clearly, concentrate or memory problems).

But the label of "Chronic Fatigue" doesn't tell you what to do about it. It just tells you that your brain and your body aren't working correctly.

Here's what most doctors don't understand about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:
The immune system in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers is ABNORMAL. The immune system is over-active. In fact, many people suffering with Chronic Fatigue symptoms developed it after some kind of infection-whether they know it or not.

As the months go by without proper treatment, the immune system becomes terribly unbalanced…like a teeter-totter with someone on only one side.

Primary Signs and Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome include:

Loss of memory or concentration

Sore throat

Painful and mildly enlarged lymph nodes in your neck or armpits

Unexplained muscle soreness

Pain that moves from one joint to another without swelling or redness

Headache of a new type, pattern or severity

Sleep disturbance

Extreme exhaustion lasting more than 24 hours after physical or mental exercise.
