Ear Acupuncture - What You Need to Hear About Auricular Medicine

sacres_water_lily_1.jpg

Several of our patients who have had acupuncture at our office have also experienced Needle-less Ear Acupuncture; also called Auriculotherapy and Auricular Medicine.  It is a natural drug-free treatment which is reasonably priced, efficient and effective.   Auricular Medicine is a systematic method of diagnosis and treatment.  Some practitioners believe that by examining the ear, they may discover and treat ailments anywhere in the human body.  In our practice, we use the method primarily for the treatment of pain or to provide adjunctive support to the NMSK treatment plan.

Auricular diagnosis reveals subtle disharmonies through the ear by evaluating color, texture, reactivity to pressure, general shape, and changes in electrical conductivity in the skin.  Corresponding acupoints on the ear can have beneficial pain reduction that, for some, can almost feel immediate.

Auricular Treatment is a process of pressing and massaging specific points on the ear that correspond to other areas of the body.  The methods are easy and relatively painless because the skin is not punctured.  Auricular acupuncture is an excellent alternative in the course of treatment to augment chiropractic care.

Auricular Seed Therapy

This is also referred to as a "seed-pressure" method. It refers to applying a hard, smooth seed, herb, or a magnetic pellet on tape, to a selected auricular point, and pressing it firmly to stimulate a particular point.  Auricular Seed Therapy was developed through Auricular Filliform Needling and Auricular Needle Imbedding Therapy.

Even though Auricular Filliform Needling and Auricular Needling Embedding Therapy are very effective in treating many conditions, needle insertion undoubtedly produces pain, which can be frightening to some patients.

Auricular Treatment, on the other hand, is safe and, for the most part, painless. Patients can even repeatedly stimulate the acupuncture points on the ear themselves by pressing the seeds attached to the acupoints when they return home or to the activities of daily living.

This method is very suitable for children, or those others who are afraid of pain involving needles, or who can not receive treatment everyday. Through clinical practice records, it has been confirmed that Auricular Seed Therapy is more acceptable by the patients and it can achieve favorable therapeutic effects.

Testimonials

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "I would like to thank Dr. John for helping me get moving again. If it wasn't for your help I'd still be sockless. I'd also like to thank Dr. Audrey for introducing me to the nearly instantaneous relief of acupuncture and helping me walk without pain again. You two have to be the most caring couple ever. I would have never gotten this far if it wasn't for the two of you. I can't thank you enough."

  • "For years I suffered with foot pain that made each step a misery. Dr. John found the problem and he has helped me fix it. Getting customized orthotics for my shoes was an improvement and a treatment plan for my feet keeps me going completely pain free. I really like how Dr. John's office can accommodate my busy work schedule to fit in my treatments."

  • "I have seen chiropractors all my life. Some chiropractors can be very rushed or very rigid in terms of what types of care they will offer or recommend. The care I received at this office was above and beyond anything I had before. I appreciate the availability and the consistency of care options."
    A.D., Winnipeg/Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • "When I had my car accident, I was shocked at how much pain I was in. I could barely move my neck. Dr. Audrey was there for me. I was surprised at the effect that chiropractic care had on helping me to recover. It seemed that when I would start to stiffen up again, chiropractic treatment would settle things down right away. And this was a really good thing because I couldn't afford to miss opportunities or any time from work. That was two years ago. Even now that the accident case has closed I still see Dr. Audrey every month or two just to keep feeling good."
