Applied Kinesiology (AK) was discovered and developed by world renowned chiropractor and alternative health care practitioner Dr. George J. Goodheart, Jr. AK is a method of evaluating one's structural, chemical/nutritional and/or emotional health in order to determine which treatment method(s) would be most effective for each individual.
AK is not just muscle testing and is not a yes or no answer system where someone holds something up against the patient's body and determines whether something is good or bad for that individual. Unfortunately, most people call these techniques "applied kinesiology" or "kinesiology", yet they have absolutely nothing to do with Dr. George Goodheart's work or with anything we do at Triad Health Solutions. True Applied Kinesiology (AK) is much more involved and specific and is based on a great deal of scientific research.
The most important tool used in AK is taking a thorough patient history as well as using standard medical testing procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, evaluating range of motion and using neurological and orthopedic testing, blood testing and/or other lab testing.
At Triad Health Solutions, we never rely on one method of testing (such as muscle testing) to diagnose or treat any individual. Instead, we gather as much information as possible from as many different testing methods as possible to determine the best treatment(s) for each individual.
Treatment using AK may include one or any combination of the following:
- structural/chiropractic adjustments
- nutritional/herbal/homeopathic therapy
- acupuncture meridian therapy
- cranial/sacral techniques/therapies
- trigger point therapy
- massage therapy
- exercise or physical therapy
- myofascial techniques/therapies
- reflexology
- neurovascular or neurolymphatic reflex techniques
- gait analysis
- laser therapy
- PEMF therapy or Cellular Exercise
- inter-segmental traction or decompression therapy
- and many other therapies or techniques
