DOT physicals are crucial in protecting the drivers ensuring that they are in safe working order as well as the civilians out on the road. The FMCSA requires the physicians to follow strict, mandatory guidelines for each exam.

If the medical examiner determines that the driver is safe to operate a commercial motor vehicle, the driver will receive a copy of his FMCSA medical evaluation form and a complete medical examiner's certificate.
