How to Tell if Someone is a Good Candidate for Stem Cells 8/12/2018

One of the most common questions we receive in the clinic is "How do I know if I'm a good candidate for stem cell therapy?"

While we cannot give a definitive answer, we can give some general guidelines for patients. One thing that will automatically disqualify a patient is if they have a complete tear of a muscle or tendon such as a rotator cuff.

Below you can watch a video that shows a patient's x rays before and after stem cell therapy. X-rays provide much of the information the doctors and healthcare providers need to determine if a patient will be successful with stem cell therapy or not. In the video, you will get a description from Dr. Steflik showing what a normal knee x ray should look like and what a knee that has been damaged or that has arthritis looks like.

In the after x-ray there is clearly a change in the space between the femur and tibia indicating that there has been some sort of change (cartilage growth). This patient also reports a complete absence of pain after the stem cell injection and complete return to full activities.

The important thing to know is that every person is different. Some patients may require further testing and imaging to confirm they are good candidates. Our goal is to help as many people as possible get this amazing therapy, but we are very selective and careful to determine who is will respond well and who won't.

If you or someone you love is interested in stem cell therapy, I would recommend a free consultation or attend one of our stem cell seminars. To find out more about an upcoming seminar near you call 386-267-6382. We do seminars weekly all over Volusia and Flagler County.
