Neuropathy Treatment in Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach

What is Neuropathy?
More than 26 million Americans suffer from neuropathy every year. Symptoms can include pain, a pins-and-needles sensation, numbness, and weakness in the hands and in the feet. Sometimes neuropathy presents as a burning sensation, decreased sensitivity or and increased sensitivity in the hands and feet.

The most common cause of peripheral neuropathy is diabetes, but other causes include injury, infections or exposure to toxins (like chemotherapy treatments).

So, you are an active adult in Florida but your peripheral neuropathy has been bothering you for quite some time now. The pain is getting worse and it is now getting to the point that you can't do the activities you enjoy such as walking on the beach or the bridges, bacci, jogging, golfing, gardening, or playing tennis. It has now gotten to the point that it is painful to walk. You never thought you would dread standing on your feet!

You have tried taking over the commonly prescribed medications like antidepressants like amitriptyline, pain medications like gabapentin, oxycodone, anti-seizure medications, and pain-relieving creams, but they only provide temporary relief if anything at all. Your doctor has told you that there is nothing else that can be done besides try to manage the symptoms. Your doctor may have recommended stronger medication, but has run out of options.
