Graston Technique (Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) Benefits
If your bones in your knee move and are not directly in the same place they were before, the tissues around them are going to be affected. Ligaments, muscles, tendons, menisci are all going to be stress and could pull or tear.
That is why Dr. Amie Gregory, DC, CCEP, ANF works on your spine, limbs, soft tissue and nerves!
The ergonomic design of these instruments provides the clinician with the ability to locate restrictions through sound waves. The unique design allows the clinician to treat the affected area with the appropriate amount of pressure, due to square surface of the instruments.
Trauma to soft tissue causes a local inflammatory response. This initiates reabsorption of inappropriate fibers (scar tissue). During the treatment, the instruments breakdown scar tissue or "adhesions" which may have developed as a result of surgery, immobilization, repeated strain or other forms of stress on the body.
Breaking down these tissues and allowing for newly formed normal tissue to form allows your body to move properly and put less stress on your joints. This form of treatment is beginning to be used by professional athletes and colleges like Stanford to increase their performance and manage injuries.
