5 Tips for Keeping a Healthy Spine Whilst Working in an Office.

If there was ever a subject to form comradery around for those working in an office, then it is the endless fight to be more mindful over the health of our backs. We all know it but for some reason, we often “unknowingly” forget. So here are 5 tips for keeping a healthy spine whilst working in an office.

Here’s Your 5 Tips for Keeping a Healthy Spine
Whilst Working in an Office.

  1. Set a Hourly Focus on Resetting Your Posture

Quite simply, we are creatures of habit. Whenever we display a behaviour which seemingly appears as a discipline, it is actually a habit! Therefore, by setting a reminder at the end of each hour to reset our posture, you’ll soon realise that you’ll begin to do it without thinking. Until, eventually, you’ll be sitting that way all the time!

  2. Stretch Regularly

Again, this could perhaps fall under forming new habits but regardless there are plenty of benefits. For example, let's say you have sore muscles in your legs; your body has to compensate for being compromised and often this can put strain elsewhere on our bodies; commonly our backs. Keeping the whole body in its best condition as possible is a sure way to avoid back problems.

  3. Exercise Regularly

Sounds obvious enough and yet, how often do we get caught up in the cycle of avoiding the actions which are good for us. Perhaps the biggest reason exercise is good for the health of our backs is because once health and well-being becomes a lifestyle, we take every part of our health into consideration - Including our backs.

  4. Maintain a Healthy Weight

A healthy weight usually represents healthy life choices and so whilst this might be a reflection of positive actions, it also means that your body is not having to work harder than it needs to. Carrying around a few extra pounds can mean an extra strain on your back, which can result in an array of spinal problems.

  5. ALWAYS Put Your Health First

We so often side track our health and hope and wait for things to change. The simple fact of the matter is if you are experiencing discomfort then it is for a reason. The actions needed to fix the problem will obviously vary but it is a thousand percent better to be proactive rather than reactive.

Much of this information you might not need your Chiropractor in Exeter but this doesn’t change its validity and this is the point which may well need to be raised. Sometimes our health and well-being is completely out of our control but where it is in our own hands, we have to make certain we have a tight grip!
