Soft Tissue Therapy

Our Massage and Sports Therapists carry out all the massage and soft tissue work at ROCK. When myofascial tissue becomes stiff or if there is scarring on the muscle, it can restrict movement in both the muscles and the joints. This can lead to joint and muscle pain. The Sports Therapist will locate and address areas of myofascial tissue stiffness, tightness or scarring.

Symptoms of myofascial pain include a deep ache or pain in the muscle or a sensitive knot in the muscle. The source of the pain is stiffness or scarring in that specific area of myofascial tissue. Normally myofascial tissue is elastic and moves when light pressure is applied however these points will feel tight and rigid. The Sports Therapist will address these areas by applying pressure or massage, the purpose of this would be to redistribute fluid, relax muscles, increase circulation, ease muscle tension, break up scar tissue and reduce pain.
