Americans are spending upwards of $30 billion per year out-of-pocket, according to Richard Nahin, PhD, MPH, and colleagues at the National Center for Health Statistics. From their survey they report that people on average are paying $433 per year for practitioners, and $368 per person for supplements, with a not-large gap between the wealthiest and poorest respondents - and the poorest in the survey outspent the wealthiest on dietary supplements!
