19.3% of the US population engaged in sports and exercise on any given day. 3.4 million females across the US participated in high school sports, as opposed to 4.5 million males. One in five sports and recreational activities contribute to approximately 21% of all traumatic brain injuries among American children. 62% of organized sports related injuries occur during practice. Approximately 1/3 of all injuries incurred in childhood are sports-related injuries.
