Is Weight Related to Pain?
Many of us think that weight is the main cause for their pain. Is it true? As a Chiropractor, patients always tell me, I'm hurting because I am overweight, and my answer is always the same, there are bodybuilders who are 250 lb +, and wrestlers, and I have friends that are 300 plus pounds who are functioning without any complaints or any apparent symptoms. in the mean time, I see patients that weigh 95 lb who complain of musculo-skeletal pain. Weight loss or gain is a self-image related topic.
When I googled Ideal weight, the first two pages came with results for BMI calculators, or body mass index. If your BMI is within "18-25" range then you are considered Healthy, and if you are below or above then you do NOT fall within normal range. Here's a chart for BMI for reference. After I went over that chart, I realized that it does not really represent Health. It represents the relationship between height and weight, which in turn represents what the Ideal weight of a person should be. At the same time, if you are at the ideal weight, then you can still have pain. so weight might not be completely related to pain, as the pictures below can demonstrate that.
Some people start having body pains and aches after they drop the weight, and without any traumatic events or accidents. I tried to research that, and did not come up with any answers, or found any data on how many weight loss patients start having pain after they drop they loose weight.
