What Is Sciatica?
Sciatica is a specific pain that has to do with the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the human body, starting in the lower back and going down through the buttocks, legs, and feet. This nerve can become compressed due to lifestyle, age, and injury, causing pain in the lower parts of the body.
What Causes Sciatica?
Sciatica is caused by agitation or impingement of the sciatic nerve, often in the lower part of the back. This condition is likely to happen during pregnancy, in people with lumbar spinal stenosis, or as a result of muscle spasms in the buttocks or back, spondylolisthesis, and degenerative disc disease.
What Are the Symptoms of Sciatica?
There are various symptoms of sciatica. These symptoms include hip pain, shooting pain that makes it hard to stand up, lower back pain, lingering pain in one buttock, pain in a leg or buttock that increases when sitting, numbness, weakness, having a hard time moving one foot or leg, and tingling or burning felt in one leg.
Sciatica is usually only felt on one side of the lower body. The pain can go all the way down to the feet and toes.
How We Can Help
We can help relieve you of your sciatica related symptoms. There are several ways we can do this at our office. Chiropractic adjustments, Regenerative Medicine, specific exercises, massage therapy, and physical therapy can help relieve you of many painful symptoms from sciatica by not just masking your pain like some drugs can, but by addressing the cause of your pain directly.
Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine speeds up the healing process by using platelet-rich plasma. Cells of the patient are injected into the body where the pain and injury are, focusing on healing those areas. Combining this with chiropractic care helps the body heal quickly with no side effects.
Contact us if you have any questions about our therapies or facilities. We are here to help you heal.
