PRP for Hair Restoration

PRP for Hair Restoration

PRP is an exciting non-surgical therapeutic option for patients who require stimulation of hair growth for hair loss conditions, and one of them is called androgenic alopecia. As a result of the most recent scientific studies, we recognize PRP as an all-natural medical procedure performed in our offices for scalp, skin, and hair stimulation.

How Does it Work?

Human blood contains blood products that contain essential and specific growth factors that assist in tissue regeneration and healing. Platelet Rich Plasma, (PRP), has been used as a medical adjunct therapy for over two decades for skin and wound healing.

PRP therapy for hair loss is a treatment that involves withdrawing a patient's own blood, processing through a centrifuge, so that only the enriched cells (platelet-rich plasma) remain, and injecting it into  the scalp. PRP contains essential proteins that stimulate natural hair growth. Other terms for this treatment include PRP hair regrowth treatment, and in the U.K., angel PRP hair regrowth and vampire hair regrowth plan.

The Science of PRP

PRP contains special cells called Platelets, that can theoretically cause the growth of the hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells and other cells in the micro environment of the hair follicle. These special Platelet cells promote healing, accelerates the rate and degree of tissue healing and regeneration, responds to injury, and formation of new cellular growth. The primary purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase.  Inside the Platelets are many intracellular structures such as glycogen, lysosomes and alpha granules. These granules within the PRP contain clotting and growth factors that are eventually released during the healing and repair process.  A recent study was performed on patients who suffer from hair loss, and the results were incredible, they showed a significant reduction in hair loss was observed between first and fourth injection. After the fourth session, the pull test was negative in 9 patients. Scientists concluded that PRP injection is a simple, cost effective and feasible treatment option for androgenic alopecia, with high overall patient satisfaction.

Reviews From our Satisfied Patients

  • "I had a really attentive chiropractor who made sure that I was comfortable and heard about all of the offered services that would help me with my back problems. I came away feeling confident that the doc would help any way they can, and that's always cool. Definitely recommend."
    James Wells
  • "I was very impressed with the whole crew at Wellness Center PDX! Professional and compassionate, from the front desk to the clinicians. They talked me through procedures to ensure that I understood what was happening and what they needed to accomplish. Some temporary facilities issues (the A/C was scheduled for repairs, as it had not been operated since the previous autumn, and had been found to be out of repair) marred the visit, but staff had worked to mitigate the impact. Definitely worth a second visit. I'm glad I went."
    Brian Hester
  • "Everyone here is so nice! From Catina and Patricia at the front to Dr Gabriel, Nicole, and Daniel, everyone is so amazing! They are dedicated and patient with their explanations and treatments. Love my visits"
