Expressing Gratitude

Deadlines, financial obligations, social duties, meal prepping and planning for kid’s summer activities: We are all in the same boat when it comes to being stressed out. Based on a recent study, researchers found out that that men and women report high stress levels, with women feeling they have slightly higher stress than men.  In addition, stress has been linked time and time again with poor health, depression, anxiety, and having a negative impact on relationships.  Everyone is stressed out and stress will not vanish one day and never come back. We are in constant battle with stress but what is the solution?

Choose Gratitude for Better Health

Gratitude is one of the solutions to increase happiness as well as improve sleep, self-esteem, emotional health and even physical health.  Gratitude will be a direct result to feelings of joy and contentment.

Researchers examined the association between “positive affect” — feelings like happiness, joy, contentment and enthusiasm — and the development of coronary heart disease over a decade.  They found that for every one-point increase in positive affect on a five-point scale, the rate of heart disease dropped by 22 percent.

How can you impact gratitude?!

Every week, take a moment to think about what are the things that you feel gratitude about, and who are the people you feel gratitude towards? Write down the names of 3 things you are thankful for, and then think about why your thankful for those things, and then write down those reasons on a piece of paper or in a journal. Then do the same for the three people you already wrote down. Repeat that process once every week, may be on a Sunday, if it works out, then try to do it for 5 minutes everyday.

Send those people a thank you note. May be drop a facebook message, or an email or even a thank you card.

You can also share your thoughts with the people that surround you over a meal.

Make sure you have gratitude for your body and your health.

Reviews From our Satisfied Patients

  • "I had a really attentive chiropractor who made sure that I was comfortable and heard about all of the offered services that would help me with my back problems. I came away feeling confident that the doc would help any way they can, and that's always cool. Definitely recommend."
    James Wells
  • "I was very impressed with the whole crew at Wellness Center PDX! Professional and compassionate, from the front desk to the clinicians. They talked me through procedures to ensure that I understood what was happening and what they needed to accomplish. Some temporary facilities issues (the A/C was scheduled for repairs, as it had not been operated since the previous autumn, and had been found to be out of repair) marred the visit, but staff had worked to mitigate the impact. Definitely worth a second visit. I'm glad I went."

  • "Everyone here is so nice! From Catina and Patricia at the front to Dr Gabriel, Nicole, and Daniel, everyone is so amazing! They are dedicated and patient with their explanations and treatments. Love my visits"
