Arthritis

Do you suffer from arthritis?

The word arthritis is a term used all too often in the medical world. It is a generalized word meaning that our joints are inflamed. However, it doesn’t tell you the most important part of the story, and that is…

What’s causing my arthritis?

Many environmental triggers can cause arthritis. In fact, there are many different types of arthritis. The two largest classifications can be divided into Osteoarthritis conditions and Inflammatory arthritis conditions. We see both in our office and it takes trained professionals to know how to tell the difference. The two have many different therapeutic strategies and we’ve seen hundreds of successful cases in our office.

Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis occurs when bones and joints degenerate and can be very painful. This can occur in the hands, knees, shoulders, and spine especially.

Causes include:

Repetitive Micro-trauma (examples include typing, texting, running, standing, and sitting long hours)
Lack of joint mobility
Inactivity
Work and occupational stressors
Poor diet leading to obesity and increased weight on joints
Physical injuries

Inflammatory Arthritis
This type of arthritis is more elusive and involves inflammation within our blood and circulatory systems leading to poor nutrition for our joints, tissues, and bone matter. Conditions like rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis are examples of these types. New research on specific nutritional and supplemental protocols have been shown to help inflammation and aid in pain relief for arthritis.

Our practitioners have the training to give you the answers you’ve been looking for and can help identify what protocols are right for you. Sometimes nutrition can be a great help, and other times Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, and exercise is the answer. After a comprehensive evaluation, the care team at the Chiropractic & Physical Therapy Center in Fairfax, VA can customize a plan that fits your needs. Don’t delay, it’s time to get your life back and optimize your quality of life.
