Neck Pain

Are you suffering from neck pain?

Are you suffering from debilitating neck pain? Many people just like you are suffering from various kinds of pain in their neck. There are many conditions which can cause the pain, such as arthritis, osteoporosis, stress, working long hours or maybe even weight problems. But the actual leading cause of neck pain is usually due to misalignment of vertebrae in the spine. Misalignment typically worsens over time due to bad posture, sleeping habits, injury obesity and often times stress is the leading cause. The good news is that these issues which are causing your neck pain are curable with chiropractic treatments. A variety of chiropractic techniques can relieve neck pain from misalignment and each individual may require a different course of action.

How can chiropractic help your neck pain?

Chiropractors use a variety of adjustment techniques and treatments when relieving a patient with neck pain symptoms. Treating the spine helps to heal the nervous system, which in turn helps to improve overall health and alleviate pain. Spinal manipulation is used to restore mobility to joints and surrounding tissues and relieve pain in the neck, spine, joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and muscles. Chiropractors will run diagnostic imaging and tests on your spine to identify “subluxations” or abnormalities in the spinal joints which are not functioning properly. From here a chiropractor will recommend and proceed with a course of treatments to realign the spinal joints to their proper positions.

Typical causes of neck pain corrected with chiropractic care:

  • Accidents and injuries (not limited to whiplash)
  • Sports-related injuries (not limited to the spine)
  • Pain caused by improper sleeping positions or faulty mattresses
  • Growing older & aging of the joints and spine
  • Stress from long hours on the job
  • Bad posture (typically due to long hours in front of the computer)

Things you can do on your own to alleviate pain:

Healthy living habits and daily routines can be critical to controlling neck and spine pain. Poor posture, weak abdomen muscles, and obesity are large contributors to spinal misalignment that will worsen over time. Eating the right foods and performing the proper exercises can help to strengthen “core” muscles and in turn improve posture. If you spend long hours at a desk or in front of a computer, try focusing on proper posture for long periods of time. Balance or stability balls can also be a great substitute for an office chair for brief periods of time. Using these balls can help to strengthen abdomen and back muscles (core muscles) while practicing good posture.
