Chiropractic Care FAQs

Our staff at Lifetime Health and Wellness in Broomfield, CO, meet many members of our community who have questions about chiropractic care and treatment methods. We seek to answer some of those questions and help all community members embrace the benefits of working with body care chiropractors.

When do I need to make an appointment?

Always go to see a chiropractor whenever you have mobility issues or pain in your back, neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, or knees that you can't solve on your own. While a medical doctor may prescribe muscle relaxers, pain medications, or even recommend surgery, modern-day chiropractors work with your body's natural abilities to heal itself. You should also come to see us if you have on-and-off-again blurry vision, headaches, migraines, or even anxiety.

Don't manipulations hurt?

In most cases, manipulations don't hurt. The pain usually comes from a patient tensing up at the anticipation of the movement or shock from the sound the movement may make. In all cases, we work with your body and its current abilities before attempting to lengthen or stretch any part of your body. We also perform thorough screenings to precisely know which muscles and ligaments we can help move in your body and which ones we can't.

Why do I feel so good after my spine is stretched?

Our spines do a lot of work. The only time it gets even a little rest is when we are sleeping. When you're awake and up and moving around, your spine holds together your upper frame, providing endpoints for muscle attachments. Large balls of nerve bundles also sit within the spinal column and between each disc. When your spine is stretched or decompressed, it relieves the built-up pressure the spine retains, allowing it to relax. This movement enables the fluid between the cells to start moving freely again, blood flow increases, and pressure is removed from the nerves in your back. In short, it provides incredible relief.
