Cranial Adjustments: Natural Treatment for Head Injuries

Chiropractic Care and Craniopathy

cranial adjustments in BroomfieldHead injuries sustained in a childhood trauma, household accident, sports-related concussion or even childbirth can leave patients with cranial issues that drastically lower their quality of life. If you are dealing with these issues, you will be relieved, and perhaps surprised, to discover that we can treat them non-surgically right here at Lifetime Health and Wellness.

You may have heard the term "subluxation" used in the context of spinal adjustments, but this term can describe a misalignment between two or more joints of the cranium. The human skull is composed of 22 bones; these bones come together in joints called sutures that form complex interlocking patterns. An impact or other trauma may not separate these sutures, but it can push one piece of skull outward or inward in relation to the other, creating lumpy areas. This form of craniopathy (cranial disorder) affects nerve function in the skull and spinal column, which in turn can result in serious neurological problem, physical disabilities and learning problems.

A condition called post-concussion syndrome demonstrates how craniopathy can impair nerve function and health. Long after the brain injury has healed, patients with cranial subluxations may continue to experience headaches, mood swings, lack of coordination, faulty memory and other impediments. Many development problems and learning disabilities in children may stem from a cranial subluxation that occurred in babyhood or even at birth. Misalignments of the spheroid bone, for instance, may impair a child's speech, math and reading skills.
