Westminster chiropractor helps with sciatica pain.jpgIf you have lower back pain, tingling or loss of sensation in your legs or buttock, or weakened leg function as a result of sciatica, you are probably frustrated by your symptoms and are looking for long-term pain relief. Our team at Lifetime Health and Wellness would like to help you with pain management and work to improve your wellness. In most cases, a sciatic nerve problem can be resolved through a combination of chiropractic adjustment and other non-invasive techniques -- techniques we are happy to offer to patients just like you.

What is sciatica and how does it occur? Sciatica is a collection of symptoms related to an impingement of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is the primary nerve that relays sensation and motor commands from the lumbar portion of your spine down through your legs, buttocks, and feet. As large and impressive as this nerve is, however, it is still subject to being pinched by surrounding structures, and this pinching can severely restrict its ability to function. A personal injury that results in a herniated disc, a growth that presses on the nerve, or an inflammation of the piriformis muscle in the buttock can all cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

Spinal Adjustment, Acupuncture and More to Aid Pain Relief

We offer a variety of natural, non-surgical techniques that can effectively treat sciatica. Chiropractic adjustments can correct small but critical misalignments, while spinal decompression can coax a herniated disc back into its normal position. Muscle inflammations such as piriformis syndrome often respond nicely to massage therapy, acupuncture or cold laser therapy, all of which boost the circulation and relieve pain.

If a personal injury or muscle weakness caused your condition, we can prescribe back strengthening exercises and other physical forms of therapy that can help prevent a recurrence and improve your overall wellness. Contact a Westminster chiropractor on our team to learn more!
