Spinal DecompressionSpinal Decompression:
Spinal Decompression Therapy is one of the newest non-surgical, drug free treatment options available for many serious spinal conditions. Thousands of people nationwide have experienced dramatic relief from many conditions, some of which include:

  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Sciatica
  • Severe neck and back pain
  • Arthritis (Degenerative Joint or Disc Disease)
  • Pain into the arms or legs
  • Post surgical patients
  • Spinal Stenosis

Many spinal conditions are caused by compression to the spinal vertebrae. These forces cause undo stress on those areas which can irritate or compress spinal nerves, and tear or rupture spinal discs. As these conditions worsen, many people experience nerve pain into their arms or legs.If left untreated the spine can become arthritic, making the condition even more serious.

Decompression Therapy is designed to unload these structures, allowing critical blood and nutrient exchange, thus allowing the body's healing process to occur.Over 25 years of research has lead to the development of this technology and the Weig Chiropractic Center is proud to be one of the few providers in our Charlotte community.

How Does It Work?
Spinal Decompression Therapy is accomplished by using a computer controlled traction device which will deliver a gentle stretching and relaxation cycle to the spinal vertebrae. Treatments typically take 15 to 20 minutes 3 to 4 times per week and require approximately 20 or more sessions (based on individual diagnosis).Virtually all patients report treatments are painless and even relaxing and begin to feel relief within a few sessions.

Who can benefit form Spinal Decompression Therapy?
This therapy is designed to decompress the spinal disc. Any back or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated, protruding, or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).

Cold Laser TherapyCold Laser Therapy:
Cold Laser Therapy is the newest use of laser technology, over injuries to stimulate healing and relieve pain, without sensation or side effects. It is now used for the treatment of sports injuries, several chronic pain syndromes, and acute conditions. This non-surgical, drug free therapy is used for the treatment of:

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Tendonitis (Tennis Elbow, Golfers Elbow)
  • Knee injuries
  • Fibryomyalgia
  • Bursitis
  • Sports Injuries
  • Chronic Joint Pain

How does it work?
Low energy lasers have been found to create biological changes in human tissues (healing). This process is called photobiomodulation, and when applied to tissue it accelerates the cell's healing response.

Is it effective?
Clinical research has been extensively performed for many years. Research has shown it to be very effective on many stubborn and chronic problems such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Bursitis, Tendonitis, knee and shoulder pain etc…Laser therapy has been so effective it is now used instead of surgery for many patients and is approved by the FDA.

How long does it take?
Treatments typically take less than 10 minutes, 3 to 4 times per week and require approximately 20 or more sessions (based on individual diagnosis). Most patients begin to experience relief in about a week but results widely vary depending on many factors including how long the problem has exsisted.

Surface ElectromyographyComputerized Surface Electromyography:
The Weig Chiropractic Center uses some of the most advanced tools available to help diagnose your musculoskeletal problems. Along with radiographs, Computerized Surface Electromyography is used to provide a more complete picture of your muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems to better understand and diagnose your issues. This state-of-the-art technology helps to target the exact cause of your issues and therefore ultimately helps to get you better faster.

In addition to improving diagnostic quality, this tool can also be used to measure our progress to make sure we are meeting our treatment goals.

How does it work?
Surface Electromyography (sEMG) is a very sensitive diagnostic device which measures muscle and nerve activity along the spine, much the way an EKG measures heart activity. X-rays give us a view of the osseous (bone) structures, and sEMG can complete the picture by providing us information about the nerve and muscle activity. A better assessment can be made allowing us to choose the most appropriate and effective treatment plan for your specific problem

Is it painful?
Not at all. It is totally non-invasive and does not cause pain or irritation. This makes it totally safe for infants, children, pregnant women or seniors. It simply requires the placement of small probes against the skin, with the testing taking less than a few minutes.

We are committed to delivering the highest quality of care and are continuing to do so with up to date research and instrumentation.
