Tendinitis

Tendinitis is a painful condition that can cause elbow, shoulder, wrist, and knee pain. Chiropractic care is an ideal way to relieve pain without prescriptions and surgeries. Our Bellbrook chiropractor provides tendinitis pain relief with noninvasive treatment at Integrative Health + Sports Performance.

.

What is Tendinitis?

Tendinitis is the inflammation of a tendon that's a result of overuse or injury. A tendon is a flexible tissue that attaches your muscles to bone. The condition is sometimes referred to as tendonitis, which is chronic or reoccurring inflammation to the tendon. As mentioned, it can affect any tendon but is more common in the,

  • Elbow
  • Knee
  • Shoulder
  • Wrist
  • Thumb

Although elbow pain from tendinitis is referred to as tennis elbow, it can occur from any repetition involving the tendon. These conditions can usually resolve themselves with rest, ice, heat, and NSAIDs. However, the shoulder, elbow, or knee pain can come back and lead to chronic pain when left untreated.

In addition to pain, patients that don't get proper treatment can develop degenerative changes, and the tendon can erupt, which main require surgery.

Is Tendinitis Preventable?

Yes, you can prevent tendinitis. If the injury is the result of a sport, such as baseball, tennis, or bowling, make changes to how you play or train to reduce irritating the tendon. You can prevent injuries from workout routines by switching to a low-impact exercise. Additionally, increasing muscle strength in those areas may also reduce the condition from returning. Damages specific to the workplace should be addressed, and proper ergonomics should be followed. For example, office employees that sit at a desk and type regularly should use a wrist wrest to prevent wrist pain.

How Can Chiropractic Care Help Reduce Knee and Elbow Pain?

There are several treatments our chiropractor can use for tendinitis pain relief. Before a chiropractic adjustment, the doctor may use heat therapy to loosen the muscles and relax you to improve the appointment's results. Another option to release muscle tension before an adjustment is with electrical muscle stimulation.

Our Sugarcreek Chiropractic office also offers massage therapy, which is an excellent way to relieve pain between adjustments. Patients generally see the doctor two or three times per week. You may feel sore following an appointment. We recommend using an icepack on the area to reduce the discomfort, which should resolve within 24 hours. If it doesn't, please contact our office.
