Infrared Sauna

WHAT IS AN INFRARED SAUNA?

Instead of steam or the traditional “box of hot rocks” heating elements, infrared sauna heaters use the infrared spectrums to promote relaxation and other health benefits.  In an infrared sauna, the air temperature is less important than the quality of the infrared heat. As your body absorbs the infrared heat, your core body temperature rises inducing a deep and relaxing sweat.

WHAT IS INFRARED HEAT?

Invisible infrared wavelengths are what makes the sun feel warm (and ultraviolet wavelengths are what makes it bright). According to scientists, infrared waves are beneficial to the human body because they are easily absorbed, stimulating the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems and also help remove toxins.  Infrared does all of this without any of the harmful rays of sunlight.

There are three main categories of the infrared spectrum: near infrared, mid infrared, and far infrared.

Far infrared is the closest of the wavelengths to the heat given off by our own body. Far infrared is readily captured by the water molecules in the body and releasing its energy. Our bodies actually give off far infrared wavelengths at about 9.4 microns. Since far infrared wavelengths feel very natural and normal to us, our energy is enhanced and strengthened. If a good portion of the far infrared from a high quality sauna heater at this 9.4 micron range, a subtle “resonant frequency” or vibration is set up within the cells of the body that increases the expulsion of toxins. The toxins are then eliminated either through the three main organs of elimination (urine, feces and exhalation) or directly through the skin, the largest organ of the body. Far infrared activates sweat glands eliminating these chemicals directly through the skin.  Expelling toxins through the skin is advantageous because it relieves the liver of having to process

Benefits of Using an Infrared Sauna

  • weight
    INCREASED METABOLISM AND WEIGHT LOSS

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, regular use of a sauna imparts a similar boost on the cardiovascular system as running. As you relax in the gentle infrared heat, your body is hard at work producing sweat, pumping blood and burning calories.

As your body increases sweat production to cool itself, your heart works harder to pump blood at a greater rate to boost circulation. This increase in your metabolism will burn calories.

  • muscle
    MUSCLE PAIN RELIEF

Muscles relax best when tissues are warm, for greater flexibility and range of motion. Far infrared heat relieves muscle tension. The deep heat of far infrared saunas help peripheral blood vessels dilate, bringing relief and healing to muscle and soft tissue injuries.  Infrared heat also reduces soreness on nerve endings and muscle spasms as muscle joints and fibers are heated.

  • juicing
    IMMUNE SYSTEM BOOST

The heat generated by an infrared sauna stimulates energy at a cellular level which, in turn, increases the body’s production of white blood cells. These cells form a component of your blood and act as your immune system’s first line of defense when infection strikes. When a harmful substance enters your body, white blood cells detect it and control the immune system’s response. Clearly, these small cells are critical when it comes to the functionality of our immune systems. An increased production of white blood cells, as stimulated by infrared sauna use, can help the body to more effectively fight off illnesses.

    DETOXIFICATION

One of the biggest infrared sauna health benefits is its ability to increase your blood circulation and stimulate the sweat glands, releasing built-up toxins in the body.

Daily sauna sweating can help detoxify your body as it rids itself of accumulated highly toxic metals (lead, mercury, nickel, and cadmium) as well as alcohol, nicotine, sulfuric acid, and other organic and inorganic compounds.

    IMPROVED APPEARANCE OF CELLULITE

Because far infrared radiant heat warms three times as deep as conventional saunas, it may be significantly more effective at reducing cellulite. There is a direct link between the slowing of metabolic rates and the storage of toxins in fat cells. Sauna use and far infrared heat can increase heart rate and localized blood circulation, which essentially reverses the above-mentioned trends towards the accumulation of liquids in the fat cells to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

  • EASED
    EASED JOINT PAIN AND STIFFNESS

Radiant heat has been effective for some in the treatment of arthritis, sprains, neuralgia, bursitis, muscle spasms, joint stiffness and many other muscular-skeletal ailments.

    REDUCED FATIGUE AND STRESS

Infrared sauna use has been shown to affect the autonomic nervous system putting you in the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state allowing your body to heal.

INCREASED CIRCULATION AND APPEARANCE OF SKIN

Many patients have reported improved skin tone, elasticity, texture and fresh color. Increased blood circulation has also been shown to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, lesions and cuts. In addition, open wounds heal more quickly, reducing scarring.
