Massage Therapy

Lomi Lomi

Lomi Lomi is deep tissue, therapeutic or gently relaxing, traditional Hawaiian massage that connects the heart, mind, body and soul. This sacred healing technique has been passed down from generation to generation and utilizes rhythmic strokes integrating the use of the therapist's forearms and elbows.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to reach the deep portions of the thick muscle fibers.  Its purpose is to loosen the fibers of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held patterns of tension.  It is a slow process and the pressure is deeper and focused on the area of tension and discomfort.  Deep tissue massages is good for people with chronic pain, muscle tension or spasms. This type of massage requires communication throughout the session with the therapist and client as to how "deep" the therapist should go.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is also designed to reach the deep portions of muscle fibers and to allow an athlete to perform better, both before and after competition.  Its purpose is to loosen muscle fibers and release toxins, which can help an athlete recover faster after a hard workout.  Sports massage prior to competition can rub out tension and knots, allowing the athlete to go into their performance with less muscle stress and strain.

Relaxation Massage (Swedish)

Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best known type of massage. It uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and creates relaxation. This type of massage employs long, gliding strokes, kneading of individual muscles and other light techniques.  Swedish massage provides the lightest touch and is considered more of a relaxation massage.

Neuro-muscular Massage (NMT)

Neuro-muscular massage utilizes specific massage therapy including pressure of trigger points to recover from acute and chronic pain syndromes as well as the rehabilitation of injuries.  This approach brings about a balance between the musculo-skeletal and nervous systems.  It enhances the functions of joints, muscles, and movement. NMT uses trigger point therapy and ischemic compression to relax muscle spasms.  Again, communication between the therapist and client throughout the session is needed to make sure the client is comfortable with the pressure.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage relieves tensions and aches caused by the extra weight gain from the baby and the shift in the center of gravity to the body.  Pregnancy massage is wonderful for relieving headaches, alleviating morning sickness, reducing fatigue, stress, backaches and leg cramps, along with enhancing sleep, and preparing the pelvic muscles for the birthing process.  Pregnant clients will be positioned strictly side-lying and your body will be supported with pillows.  Swedish strokes are the primary technique during this session.  A minimum of 60 minutes is needed due to positioning with pillows.

Chair Massage

A chair massage is a brief five to fifteen minute massage in which you are fully clothed. Chair massages are done in a special portable chair designed to allow you to relax while you are sitting down.  Due to the portability of the massage chair, chair massages can be done away from the clinic at other business locations. If you or your company would like to schedule a chair massage for your business, please give us a call for times special pricing.
