How does laser therapy reduce pain?

At Summit Medical Care Center, we use laser therapy to help our patients recover from pain due to muscle strains, arthritis, ligament sprains, tennis elbow, and several other conditions. We've recently received many inquiries from our Broomfield clients on how laser therapy helps with chiropractic pain management. Laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLT), prompts painful body parts to heal by exposing them to visible light radiation. LLT is also sometimes called cold laser because it does not emit any heat.

How Laser Therapy Helps with Pain Relief

When our chiropractor places the laser-emitting device over your painful body parts, the laser promotes cellular activity. This causes the mitochondria around this area will generate more adenosine triphosphate, accelerating the body’s cellular processes. The energy boost relieves pain by catalyzing the healing process. The more muscular the treated area, the faster the healing and pain reduction rate.

Besides accelerating the cellular fuel process, laser therapy also improves circulation. The better your circulation, the faster your injured tissues will heal. Laser therapy only acts on tissues and cells that have been dormant for some time. Therefore, radiation from the laser therapy device will only be absorbed by the mitochondria in the injured area.

Why Should You Use Laser Therapy for Pain Management?

From risky surgeries to frustrating medications and their undesirable side effects, we all understand how nerve-wracking coping with pain can be at times. But it doesn't always have to be this challenging—especially when using chiropractic non-invasive remedies like laser therapy. Using laser therapy for pain management comes with several additional benefits. It's cost-effective, painless, customizable, has zero recovery time, and accelerates tissue repair to provide long-lasting relief.
