Here are Some Helpful Tips from Our Chiropractor to Help You Travel Safe!

Whether you are traveling in the sky, by rail, or taking the family car on a road trip, there are several tips that apply to all modes of transport:

  • Keep moving! If you are on a plane or train get up stretch, and walk up and down the aisles at regular intervals to keep blood flowing and avoid any circulation problems. For those on a road trip, be sure to pull over and rest your eyes and stretch your legs every few hours to avoid fatigue and keep up circulation.
  • Stay hydrated - dehydration is especially a problem on trains, but it will affect you whatever your mode of travel. Drink more water than you typically do, as this will help to avoid those pesky aches and pains that often accompany travel.
  • Avoid alcohol - alcohol can dehydrate the body and cause drowsiness and fatigue. Avoid drinking the night before a trip and while traveling.
  • Exercise - when you get to your destination it is always a great idea to get outside for a walk or jog or even hit up the hotel gym. We find that spending some time outdoors moving around when we reach our destination also helps us to avoid jet lag.

Travel safe this summer and keep these tips in mind to ensure that your vacation isn't affected by any unwanted aches and pains. If you suffer an injury during your trip, call us today to schedule a visit at Summit Medical Care Center.
