The purpose of the blog is to educate and update you on the latest information on a variety of subjects relating to women's health issues and functional medicine.
Many of my patients initially come to me for various menopause problems such as hot flashes, mood changes, weight gain, foggy brain, memory loss, insomnia etc. While many of these problems DO come from hormonal imbalances associated with menopause, after specific testing such as saliva hormone testing for sex hormone and adrenal hormone levels, food intolerance testing and tests for leaky gut, immune system function, thyroid hormone levels and gastrointestinal function, I find that what was initially thought to be a symptom of menopause, is really due to to some other underlying cause!
For example, hot flashes and night sweats can be caused by sex hormone imbalances between estrogen and progesterone or adrenal gland stress hormone imbalances or thyroid hormone problems.
As a Functional Medicine practitioner, through specific metabolic testing, I play "detective" in order to find the root cause of your specific problems.
