The loss of the normal spinal alignment, particularly the loss of the normal curves (lordosis) in the neck AND low back, is one of the most common causes for neck pain, low back pain, headaches and poor posture. This causes a condition call Forward Head Posture. A more modern name is Text Neck.

When the head shifts forward, it increases the mechanical work load for the ENTIRE spine. Particularly hard hit areas are just under the skull, where the shoulders and neck meet, between the shoulder blades and the very low back. This causes the spinal joints to restrict and your chiropractor can help restore motion to these restricted, misaligned joints.
Muscles that attach to the bones in the cervical spine become over stretched with the loss of the cervical curve and begin to fatigue. That is often when the person feels PAIN, or very TIGHT muscles. The strain on these muscles can cause neck pain, upper back pain, low back pain, headaches and poor posture.
Your chiropractor can help restore motion to the restricted spine joints, but only YOU can strengthen the muscles to keep this good and proper spinal alignment. One option Dr. Teresa Green offers for her patients is the Pettibon Head Weight.
Another side effect of this Forward Head Posture or Text Neck, is another condition called Upper Crossed Syndrome.
