Meet the Chiropractor

  • Dr.
    Steven Skaggs

    Dr. Steven Skaggs is the clinical director of Skaggs Chiropractic, LLC, located in Joplin, MO and has been a practicing chiropractor for 24 years. He has extensive clinical expertise in the treatment of traumatic injuries as a result of automotive accidents. Conditions seen at Skaggs Chiropractic, LLC range from trauma-related cases and sports-related injuries to scoliosis. Dr. Skaggs's comprehensive postdoctoral education allows him to treat both the simple and complicated cases. Dr. Skaggs has been at the forefront of treatment protocols and techniques for these bodily injuries, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and concussions associated with motor vehicle accidents. Dr. Skaggs is a member of the Academy of Chiropractic and the American Academy of Medical Legal Professionals. These are national medical research organizations that provide the latest research on the diagnostic and treatment of traumatic spinal related conditions. At Skaggs Chiropractic, LLC, we offer treatment that is custom designed for each individual and their injuries. We also offer off-label hyperbaric oxygen therapy to those in need. We treat TBI, concussions, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, and ischemic strokes, just to mention a few. We treat patients from newborns to the aged. We want those difficult cases, the traumatic cases, and, of course, we accept crawl-ins.

    I have earned additional certifications with the State of Missouri and I am a Certified Chiropractic Insurance Consultant. I have been honored by Cleveland Chiropractic College and awarded The Alumni of the Year Award from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City in 2007. I have conducted extensive research in the area of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). I am a member of the International Hyperbaric Medical Association (IHMA) & was recently appointed to the Executive Board of Directors. I have conducted visiting lectures at Pittsburg State University, Cleveland Chiropractic College, and Southwest Missouri State.

    Dr. Skaggs was recently honored by the Joplin Regional Business Journal in it's 2015 Salute to Healthcare. Dr. Skaggs has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Hyperbaric Medical Associaiton. And most recently, Dr. Skaggs has been delegated as a clinical and corporate advisor to OXYMED International which is a manufacture of hyperbaric chambers which is also involved in research revolving around hyperbaric.

    Skaggs Chiropractic, LLC is a proud member of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce and has been nominated for the small business of the year award for four years in a row and again in 2014 & 2016. The business was a finalist in the nominations for 2010, 2011, and 2013.
