Treatment for a Pinched Nerve

Pinched nerves don’t sound as painful as they sometimes are. Normally, a “pinch” refers to a small dose of something. However, anyone who has suffered from a pinched nerve knows that it’s a condition that can cause chronic, sharp pain in the affected area.

At Skaggs chiropractic, we can provide a swift, effective solution for the pain of a pinched nerve using a unique treatment known as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Dr. Skaggs’ clinic is only one of fourteen in the United States that use this type of therapy. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, or HBOT, works by using increased units of oxygen applied in a pressurized chamber, in dosages higher than one would normally experience in everyday life. This direct application of oxygen invigorates the performance of red blood cells, which, in turn, results in speeding up the healing process.

There has been much research on the effectiveness of HBOT and Dr. Skaggs has experienced quite a bit of success with it in his practice. He is happy to discuss this type of therapy with patients and to help them decide if this method of treatment is best to be used with their particular condition.

Other Methods of Chiropractic Pain Relief

In addition to HBOT, other treatment methods we use for painful conditions such as pinched nerves include manual spinal manipulation, machine-operated chiropractic adjustments, low-level laser therapy and ultrasound with low volt therapy.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care

The varied methods of chiropractic care all have the same goal: to treat ailments in an all-natural, holistic way. Chiropractic treatments are hands-on, whole-person centered methods that aim to heal from the inside out. Instead of merely treating the presenting issue that occurs after illness sets in, chiropractic care focuses on looking for the underlying causes of illness. This means that chiropractors take physical, mental, and emotional and lifestyle factors into consideration when diagnosing and treating a problem. In this way, more than just alleviating pain, the healing process becomes about finding ways to prevent future ailments and injuries and generally maintaining a lifestyle that better supports ongoing health and wellness.
