Feeling sharp pain when you move your neck?
A sharp pain that comes on when you try to move your neck can be scary as well as deeply uncomfortable. Our chiropractor sees this symptom a lot with patients who have neck pain, including a pinched nerve in the neck. Learn our thoughts on what it means when you feel a sharp pain when you move your neck, and how we can reduce your neck pain naturally.
Symptoms of a Pinched Nerve
If you have a pinched nerve, the pain may radiate down your spine or down your neck and into your shoulder muscles. Along with sharp pain, you may feel tingling or numbness, burning, aching, or muscle weakness. Pinched nerves in the neck can flare up when you are trying to go to bed and get some rest from your pain, unfortunately.
Conventional treatment for a pinched nerve in the neck calls for rest, ice, and over the counter medication as a first line treatment.
At DiSabatino Chiropractic & Rehab, Inc., we can treat a pinched nerve in the neck without the use of pain medication. We use gentle chiropractic adjustments to realign the spine and neck muscles, reducing the pressure that is pinching a nerve. We find that patients respond very well to our chiropractic adjustments and find pain relief after our first chiropractic treatment.
We can also introduce soft tissue healing therapies, including active release therapy. By working on the soft tissue and muscle fascia in your back and shoulders, we can reduce symptoms of a pinched nerve that radiate to those areas. Through trigger point therapy, we can release muscle knots that pinch the nerve. Combined with chiropractic therapy, soft tissue therapies will bring about a faster healing for our Mission Valley and San Diego patients.
We have a new patient special that allows you to receive an evaluation, consultation, and initial adjustment for just $49. We invite you to come on in and see how we can help your neck pain today!
