Sciatica Is a Pain – But Our Scottsdale Chiropractor Can Help!

Scottsdale chiropractor treats back pain from sciatica.jpgMany people experience sciatica as a dull ache traveling from the lower back down through the posterior and into the legs. Other people experience a burning, shooting pain. In either case, this combination of leg and back pain is actually a sign that your sciatic nerve—the body’s longest nerve—is being pinched. Fortunately, Scottsdale chiropractor, Dr. Daniel Secrest, DC, can diagnose and provide treatments that relieve the root cause of sciatic pain.

Treating Sciatica with Massage Therapy, Spinal Adjustment and Cold Laser Therapy

Sciatica can come from a number of sources; a herniated or bulging disc, for example. In this case, the misshapen disc presses on the nerve, causing back pain. Piriformis syndrome is another possible reason. This means something is causing spasms and inflammation of the piriformis muscle, which then presses the sciatic nerve. Spinal misalignments may also be the culprit. Dr. Secrest gives each patient a full examination to discover the reason behind the pinched nerve, and can recommend a course of massage therapy, spinal adjustment, and/or cold laser therapy sessions to help correct the problem.

All of Dr. Secrest’s therapies are natural, non-invasive and drug-free—and best of all, they really work! During each spinal adjustment session, for example, he works to realign the spine so that pinched nerves can be released. This often brings dramatic pain relief. Massage therapy helps surrounding musculoskeletal tissues to relieve tensions and reduce inflammation that may be causing muscle spasms to press on the sciatic nerve. Cold laser therapy is a state-of-the-art treatment where laser light penetrates deep down into injured or inflamed soft tissues, stimulating cellular regeneration, circulation and reducing inflammation. Depending on the needs of the patient, we may use one or a combination of these treatments to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve.

The bottom line is that you do not need to continue suffering from this kind of pain. Relief is possible! What questions do you have about spinal adjustment, massage therapy or cold laser therapy treatments and how they relieve pain? Let us know below!
