Pediatric Care

Here at Seacrest Family Chiropractic, we offer chiropractic care for your entire family, including children. Children in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, and Phoenix, AZ can benefit from chiropractic treatment options as much as adults.

Benefits of Child Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care for children is becoming more commonplace. According to the ACA, in 2010, 17 percent of the individuals seeking child chiropractic care were under the age of 18 with nearly eight percent of those patients under the age of six.

Common Childhood Ailments

  • Backpack Injuries
  • Colds
  • Colic
  • Ear Infections
  • Injuries from Falling (Learning to walk)
  • Muscle and Joint Pain from Growing
  • Scoliosis
  • Sports Injuries

Child chiropractic care and chiropractic care for infants is effective at treating colic, eating problems, problems sleeping and chronic ear infections. Other reasons for pediatric visits to a chiropractor include improving the quality of life for children with chronic diseases, including cerebral palsy, autism, scoliosis and ADHD.

Teenagers often visit chiropractors to alleviate back and shoulder pain and to treat various sports injuries, including shin splints and muscles pulls and strains.

Having your child’s vertebrae and extremity joints manipulated is very safe and contains very few side-effects. The difference is that our child chiropractor uses less force and faster thrusts to push the joints back into their proper alignment because children’s joints are still growing and contain a lot of cartilage, which makes them more flexible.

Chiropractic Services for the Children of Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Phoenix, Paradise Valley and Fountain Hills.

Our child chiropractor offers manual adjustments, posture screenings and lifestyle advice for children suffering from chronic and acute musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. Signs your child may need child chiropractic care include changes in his or her posture, changes in gait and appearing to be off balance or dizzy.

Our chiropractor will perform an initial evaluation and take a medical history to determine if your child has any misalignments and if chiropractic care would be beneficial. We may also do a posture screening to determine if your child has scoliosis or another spinal deformity that would benefit from regular chiropractic adjustments.

If it is determined that your child would benefit from regular chiropractic care, child chiropractor will recommend treatment. In general, since children’s joints are more flexible than an adult’s joints, they will need fewer sessions to correct various musculoskeletal problems, and you should notice a difference in your child after just a couple of sessions. Some children even show improvement after the first session.

In general, we recommend bringing children in for periodic adjustments and checkups one to two times a year once they reach the age of one. This helps with proper musculoskeletal development and can help treat potential problems before they become serious.

If your child regularly carries heavy backpacks or books, we can offer lifestyle adjustments and advice on how to limit the weight your child carries to avoid back, neck and shoulder pain.
