Seat Belt Injuries

.

A common type of injury experienced in a car accident is a seat belt injury. During a car accident, the body is thrust forward and possibly from side to side resulting in injuries to the shoulders, chest and abdomen regions most commonly. Internal injuries may also result from impact, but may go unnoticed immediately after the accident.

It is less likely to be seriously injured if a seat belt is worn, however, damage can still arise form wearing a seat belt such as abrasions, bruising, and fractures of the rib cage. Minor injuries which chiropractic care can help with include misalignments of the spine and ribs that may pinch a nerve or tight muscles as a result of the impact.
