The Sciatica Diagnosis

If you have been diagnosed with sciatica, it is important to understand that sciatica is not the ailment. Instead, it refers to an undefined compression or irritation of your sciatic nerve. In order to treat your sciatic nerve pain, Dr. Phil or one of his trusted associates our chiropractor will first have to determine the injury that is causing your pain.

Causes of Sciatic Nerve Pain and Treatments from our Herndon Chiropractor

The treatment for your sciatic nerve pain will largely depend on the cause. It is most commonly caused by a herniated disc in the lower back, but can also be caused by spinal stenosis in the lower back, degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis. At Golinsky Specific Chiropractic we offer chiropractic adjustments and spinal decompression.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments help reduce sciatic nerve pain that is caused by spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis. The adjustments help position your vertebrae in their correct locations, which helps maximize the space around your sciatic nerve while lowering inflammation in the nearby soft tissues.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression helps increase the spaces between the vertebrae, which provide the discs with the room they need to slowly retract. As the discs retract, the pressure on your sciatic nerve decreases, which helps reduce your pain.

Treatment Lengths

The amount of time you have had your sciatic nerve pain and the severity of your pain will determine your treatment length. Most people notice some improvement after the first session, but it may take several treatments over the course of many weeks before you notice a significant improvement. Our chiropractor can give you a treatment plan after your initial evaluation.
