Treatment for Dizziness and Vertigo at RxWellness

Woman suffering from vertigo, Dizziness, Herndon chiropractor

Fewer sensations are more disquieting than a sudden, chronic or recurring case of dizziness or vertigo. These sensations can not only make you feel queasy and make you sick, but they can also cause you to lose your balance and fall, making them a hazard to your health. Dizziness and vertigo can point to a variety of underlying disorders, some of which are directly related to your cervical spinal alignment. Here at Golinsky Specific Chiropractic, we can get to the bottom of your symptoms and provide the appropriate treatment.

What's the difference between dizziness and vertigo? The difference is subtle one, but vertigo is usually associated with an affliction of the vestibular system of the middle air, whereas dizziness is a more general condition that can be caused by other underlying issues as well. The results are much the same, including a feeling that the space around you is spinning (or that you're spinning while the rest of the room remains stationary). Nausea, vomiting and loss of balance frequently follow.

An injury or misalignment in your cervical spine can cause many cases of non-vestibular dizziness. Whiplash is infamous for a complication known as cervicogenic dizziness. This may stem from the skull sitting off-kilter on the axis vertebrae at the top of the spine, or it may have to do with impaired flow of blood in the cervical arteries.

Relieving Dizziness and Vertigo in Herndon, Reston, Sterling and Chantilly Residents

If you're experiencing dizziness or vertigo in Herndon, Reston, Sterling and Chantilly and surrounding areas of VA, it's time to pay a visit to RxWellness Spine & Health. Our chiropractor, Dr. Golinsky, will first perform a thorough medical evaluation to make sure a pressing medical emergency isn't at the heart of your problem. He will discuss your lifestyle with you to rule out other potential causes of dizzy spells such as caffeine, alcohol, antihistamines or prescription drugs. A spinal screening using x-rays and other medical tools will reveal whether a cervical misalignment is causing your symptoms.

If you are suffering from an upper cervical misalignment affecting your circulation and balance, then our chiropractor is the right person to address it. Dr. Golinsky's expertise in Upper Cervical Technique allows him to make tiny yet profoundly effective adjustments in the small vertebrae at the top of the spinal column. These efforts can literally put your head on straight by correcting the angle at which your skull sits on your spine, thus relieving vestibular issues. At the same time, correcting the alignment of your cervical bones can relieve nerve pressure and normalize blood flow.

If your dizziness or vertigo is due to free-floating debris inside your inner ear, we may recommend a simple self-care procedure called the Brandt-Daroff Technique. These exercises can naturally shift that debris and relieve your symptoms.
